Floris Felix
Runway to Wonderland
12 Dec 2025 - 18 Jan 2026
Floris Felix (b. 1989, Heemstede) moves effortlessly between fashion illustration and fine art. His work captures the energy, elegance and theatricality of the fashion world, translating movement and style into bold, expressive compositions.
In his new solo exhibition Runway to Wonderland – Between Fashion and Fine Art at I Love Illustration Gallery in Amsterdam, Floris presents a vibrant new body of work created especially for the gallery. For this exhibition, he produced 39 new works, ranging from intimate pieces on paper to large-scale, monumental paintings.
After beginning his career in the Netherlands, Floris relocated to Paris in 2010, where he refined his distinctive visual language while collaborating with renowned fashion houses such as Viktor&Rolf, Mugler and L’Oréal. During Paris Fashion Week, he regularly sketched from the front row — a formative period that sharpened his sense of speed, flair and rhythm.
Floris’ paintings are characterised by dynamic lines, rich colour palettes and a strong sense of presence. Iconic fashion figures appear mid-movement, poised between grace and drama, creating a visual universe where femininity, confidence and imagination take centre stage.
Working entirely by hand in acrylic and oil on canvas or paper, Floris transforms each brushstroke into an expression of energy and emotion. His recent work shows increasing depth and refinement, expanding his practice into monumental formats that blur the boundaries between fashion, art and performance.
Floris Felix has exhibited internationally in cities including Paris, Miami and New York, and at fairs and institutions such as Art Basel, PAN Amsterdam and the Singer Museum.
With
Runway to Wonderland, his work enters a new chapter — bold, immersive and unmistakably his own.

Fashion illustrator and artist Floris Felix captures the flamboyant glamour of designer Fong Leng and her iconic muse Mathilde Willink — legends of Amsterdam’s 1970s art and fashion scene. His striking illustration is part of a personal triptych, all on view at the exhibition.
"The first drawing is a tribute to my grandfather, who once ran a fashion studio. Though I never knew him personally, I feel a connection to his distinctive drawing style—his name was Felix, like mine.
The second illustration draws inspiration from Fong Leng and Mathilde Willink. Mathilde, of course, was the muse of Carel Willink, and encountering her story was my first experience of the dynamic between artist and muse. For me, muses are primarily the women in my life—they are an endless source of inspiration. Mathilde embodies a striking presence, while Fong Leng shaped much of my early work when I began my artistic journey in Amsterdam.
The third illustration centers on a dollhouse and references Viktor & Rolf. It reflects the period when I was working as an artist in Paris on a commissioned project. What captivates me about their work is the seamless blend of art and fashion, a balance I strive for in my own practice. The dollhouse serves as a symbol of precision and refinement, while also evoking playfulness and imagination."
